April 24th - Golden, BC

We had good roads, a few splashes of rain and about 20 seconds of wet snow.  Hope tomorrow is as good.

April 23 - Busy days

It has been a busy few days.  Yesterday we helped friends who are getting their home ready for sale, gardening up a storm, going out for dinner and visiting.

We spent time with Auntie Doreen, Todd and Kim this morning.  It was great to spend some time with them.

At Auntie Doreen's

Then spent the afternoon gardening back at Teri & Louise's.

April 21st - Still Kelowna

We treated the Brave to a much-needed oil/filter and air filter change this morning, along with dropping the tanks, half-filling the fresh water (only half since we will be hauling it over the mountain passes between here and Calgary) and filling up with that VERY expensive Canadian gas.

April 17 - Easter

Kirk and I were out for an early morning walk along the river and took a few photos of Spring flowers.

Then Kim and Morag came along for a visit and we went for another walk along the lake.

Marina

After our walk and a short siesta we went to Craig & Kyla's to join them and Ellie for a great Easter dinner.  It is nice to be back and enjoying time with family.

April 16 - Woohoo Canada!

Crossing the border into BC feels like coming into our backyard after our travels.  We had a leisurely short drive to Penticton from Omak.  There was one RV ahead of us at the border and that was it.  We were asked the basic questions and waved on through.  You know they have no concerns when there really wasn't anyone else to check.  It is good to be back in Canada.

Orchard starting to bloom on right.

Lots of orchards but no grapes until Canada.

Penticton

We are in a great little RV park in town by the riverwalk.  Kirk and I have already put on a few km.
We visited Kim in her new place which is very nice and then went out to dinner at the Kettle with Kim, Kyla & Craig and the kids.  Ellie was working there and it was great to see her for a bit as well.

April 15 - Omak WA

We did another days run across Washington through some really beautiful country.

Across the Columbia river

By hillsides covered in yellow flowers - Balsamroot.

Following the Columbia River

There was a whole convoy of these.

Huge valleys

Volcanic features - I believe these are called haystacks. There were a lot of them in fields.

Orchards

We reached Omak campground in the early afternoon and camped right across the river from the Suicide Race Hill.  The race is run today as it was in 1935 "no holds barred" on a course that starts 50 feet from a sandy bluff across the Okanogan River from the Stampede arena. Horses and riders race 225 feet down the bluff to the river, swim or wade across and dash 500 yards to the finish line in the center of the Stampede arena.
