Well, we got everything done, and made it through Tucson and into Catalina State Park. We're here til Friday morning. Tucson has grown out to meet the park, and although over a set of hills, there's a shopping complex across the highway. 4 bars cell reception in the shopping centre, 1 bar across the road in the park. State parks in Arizona have some sort of cell prevention device, I swear.
The big Saguaro cactus started soon before Tucson along the I-10. Nearly all have woodpeckers living in them, Gila Woodpeckers, I figure.
We're in no-service overflow, for $15 per night. Great washrooms and showers, and lots of trails, on which Nancy and Kirk headed out in the heat of the day.
Met a couple traveling in a Bigfoot Class C, from Vancouver, who've been on the road since May, doing the 4 corners. They left Newfoundland in October and followed the colours south. Got to the keys in Florida, and are heading to California and then north to Vancouver before their 180 days in the US run out.
It was sunny, calm, and 70 F today. Sitting out right now, watching the full moon come up over the mountains to the east on a calm, lovely clear desert evening. I can smell the woodsmoke coming from the fire in the tenting area. Had a rum while discussing Biosphere 2 with the neighbour who spent the day there. Another good day.
