Meanwhile back at our place the hummers were going crazy. The part you miss with photos is the chirping and buzz of little wings as they careen through our patio. The squabbling is intense.

We went shopping for groceries in the morning. The fellow below was also headed across the main highway and into La Peñita centro.

November 24 -Tianguis
I walked into town this morning and thought I'd take a few photos of my route.
It is a nice walk through quiet streets in the morning. Little shops and residential.

Tianguis (market)
It was busy on the main street. At the market I bought several light weight blankets to cover our furniture, whole fish, vegetables, fruit, nuts, and bollitos (yes the "little buns" lady was there).
I also tried to buy a small amount of tortillas but the vendor said she would not charge me for so small an amount. I tried to give her 5 pesos for her trouble but she laughed and insisted I take them free.

November 23rd - Carpinteria
Nancy was down surf fishing this morning (no fish, but at least one solid bite, she insists) and having fun, so around 9:30, I headed over to el carpinteria to see if our stairs were done.
I got to talk to the carpenter this time, who told me the stairs would be ready today, but mas tarde, later. He said that he would bring the stairs to the park for me. He asked my site number, and said he would ask Antonio for directions. Of course, he said it could be very late, probably after 6; maybe it would be better tomorrow? I told him tomorrow was OK, but today would be better. We shall see what transpires.
Last year, several of the Class A's had to open the external refrigerator hatch and have a fan blowing air through the fridge guts, to help them maintain adequately cool temperatures inside the fridge, in the face of 40+ C humidex temperatures. We are happy to find our Norcold has no problem maintaining cool temperatures on it's lowest setting.
Well, he said sometime after 6, and he was here at 6:10 (after hard dark). I haven't seen my new steps in the daylight yet, but they fit, and they're very solid. Now to pick a colour to paint them. Nancy has already nixed my suggestion of orange. 8-(

November 22nd - the nursery and El Divisadero
Congratulations to our niece Joce, who passed her NCLEX-RN to achieve her Bachelor of Nursing/Registered Nurse certification today! Her intelligence, energy, and caring attitude make her perfectly suited for this career, and a big win for nurse-short Manitoba!
We went to the plants nursery in La Colonia this morning, so Nancy could get some plants for the campsite.
We went to the plants nursery in La Colonia this morning, so Nancy could get some plants for the campsite.
Here's the plants she got. Even though the bag says premium deer corn, it's dirt.
Proof for Meagan that they're in the ground. Can tomatoes be far behind?
There's a pueblo on the mountain directly north of us called El Divisadero; you can see lights at night, and the occasional smoke from fires. As well, there's a backroad route through to Chacala that starts up around there, so I thought I'd go for a look-see.
There's a very good paved road that winds it's way uphill to El Divisadero from Mx 200
This is looking south towards La Peñita, our campsite is at the south end of the long beach.
The pavement ended at the pueblo, the road through the village was the ubiquitous hand laid river stones of the area, west past the village, the road was gravel for a mile or two as it wound through the mango orchards, then returned to stones. This is west of the village, looking south again, you can just make out the island out in front of Rincon. The peak in the foreground is the "nostril" of Alligator Point, as seen from the north.
Out of nowhere in the jungle appeared Vista Encanta, all fancy-like. If you look on Google, there's not much more than the fancy entrance. Whether this is to entice Internet Investors, or is just for future development, it's hard to say.
I was fairly sure if I continued, the road would continue west to the little beach cove between our bay and Chacala, but I couldn't see a way north to Chacala. I backtracked a little way and took a path through a mango orchard that headed north. It took me over the top to the point that I could see Chacala down in the valley, but dead-ended in a typical farm yard; chickens, goats and a perturbed watch dog. Oh well, a good day's explore, time to go home and consult a map for next time.
Initial reconnaissance complete, I headed back through El Divisadero. These flowering shrubs were in the playground, which had swings, a slide and a teeter-totter.
Back down into the valley towards Mx 200
Agriculture changing from the long traditional palms, now planted in Mango trees. Next time through, more pictures of the village, less verbage.

November 21 - Broad-billed hummingbird
Today I took Kirk down to the ocean to see if perhaps the hard wired Jack Russel would not pursue crabs in the sand. As some of you may recall last year he got several eye infections and the local vet said "No more playa for Kirk". Kirk had fun running away from the waves but the second I took my eyes off him....... Luckily he had not got more than a few inches of nose down the hole so back to the beach shower station to rinse away the sand. Since he was already wet I gave him a thorough bath back at our site.
We will have to stick to walking around the park.

We also had a Berylline Hummingbird at our feeder and possibly a Blue-throated Hummingbird.

November 20 - Día de la Revolución
A clear morning as the dry Santa Ana winds arrived this week.
bee nest on palm
We did not attend the parade today as it was 35 C and a walk into town was not appealing. Driving is pretty much out of the question what with the crowds and traffic congestion. Even our usually desolate beach was busy today.
Our solution to the heat was douse ourselves from our sprinkler and lay in our lawn chairs to let the Santa Ana winds dry us. Then turn on the sprinkler again. Also take photos of birds and butterflies.
Cinnamon hummingbird
Wow, look at those wings
Violet-crowned
Ruby-throated
Cinnamon
There are all kinds of beautiful butterflies here but they are too flitty for photos except for this one on our oriole orange.
We attended the rib dinner at the pool then back home where we can clearly here the oompah like horns and music of the festivities in La Peñita.

November 17, 18, & 19 - under the weather y medico
Well, Cam and I have both been a little under the weather these past few days. We have basically laid in our recliners enjoying the view or nodding off. Birdwatching being the effort of the day.
The park office phoned and the Dr was in and would see me now, so off we went. Very much like a clinic in Manitoba but way faster. I had the usual blood pressure test and temperature under the arm by a nurse then immediately to see Dr Raúl. (The Doctors seem to be called by their first name here.) He asked the usual questions and checked me out. Then told me I had bronchitis and prescribed some medicine which he said they would sell me at the front counter. All in all it took about 20 minutes and $1400 pesos ($98CDN) total of which 500 was for the Doctor, 82 tax and the rest for the medicine. Although this does not seem like much comparing to U.S. costs it would be a lot for a Mexican family. Although I believe they would not pay as much as a foreigner.
Orchard Oriole
Today, I decided it was time to go see Doctor Raúl Renteria R. Off we went to town. This is a long weekend in Mexico as Sunday is el Día de la Revolución. Mexicans remember and celebrate the Revolution of 1910 to 1920 every year on the 20th of November with this National holiday. The trailer park is filling up with tents and the town is hopping. We can here the drums and horns of the school bands practicing this week.

Clinica Rentaria
Antibiotic, ibuprofen, bronchodilator
It is probably just the thought but I already feel loads better tonight. The park is full of Mexican families enjoying the beach.
