Sioux Falls, SD - March 15, 2020

Once again Yogi Bear has come through for us with electricity, wi-fi, cable tv and sewer dump.  No water although we have half a tank so we are good.  Tomorrow morning we will winterize the RV and run for home.

Topeka, KS - March 14th

And so we leave the green grass behind tomorrow and continue north.  Here in Deer Creek Valley RV Park there is green grass but the leaves are not yet out on the trees.  Our interaction with others has been very limited.  Only at the gas pump if the card doesn't go through and to register to camp.  We have sufficient goods on board to sustain ourselves for a long time so no shopping necessary.  An RV is probably the best way to travel right now.

Waco, TX - March 12, 2020

We are in I-35 RV Park for the night.  This is a very good park with good wifi, antenna TV, good services and bi enough pull thru sites.  We would definitely stay here again even though it is close to the I-35.

Out and about in Rockport

We are once again in Drifters RV Park. This is a great park with good wifi and TV.  We started the day by going across the road to an open area to do the maiden flight of the drone.  Cam flew the drone and I discovered a number of wildflowers.

This little beauty is the Scarlet Pimpernel

Flax

Bull Thistle

Blue Mistflower aka Blue Boneset

In the afternoon Kirk and I visited Rockport Memorial Park and walked it's trails.

Melanistic Red-Eared Sliders!  These turtles have developed a dark-pigment (melanin) in the skin as part of it's natural aging process.

Live Oaks

Great Blue Heron at the Marina

Los Fresnos Nature Park

Today, Kirk and I went for a walk on the Los Fresnos Nature Park trail.  Both of us are out of shape and now that we are back where Kirk can go hiking with me it is time for a change.

March 5th - Los Fresnos TX

After a fairly quiet Wednesday night in the Pemex we set off for the border at Los Indios.  There was a very strong wind knocking us sideways or helping us along depending on our direction.  The highway was also a bit lumpy through the lowlands and we felt like a ship at sea.  The land became better with lots of orange groves and agriculture.

Nueva Padilla

We think of this as the orange town.

Lots of agriculture

Fat animals

Palm trees near Hermosa close to the border

We arrived in Los Indios and the border at noon.  We were the only ones at the Banjercito where we turned in our documents.  A few cars went through the U.S. side with us where the border guards went through the RV and car with enthusiasm and a young German Shepherd.  I guess we were the only action in town.  Everyone was polite and I am pretty sure they used our car to practice hiding something under it and having the dog find it.  There was a lot of whooping and rewards for the dog when they took him around a second time after the guy went there first.  Fine with us, they needed some action for him.  Then off to Palmdale RV park in Los Fresnos where we got our usual spot.
