El Gato vs Godzilla

We have had a friendly black cat hanging around for several months and I was concerned he had no home.  I treated cats at J.E.E.P for internal and external parasites so I also did so for this cat.  It was obviously used to being a housecat at some point as it was neutered and wants to come in the RV.  I didn't want to put him in a cage at J.E.E.P. as it is hard to find homes for cats.  Also he might just have a home and be mooching better treats in the park.  Cam is also not partial to travelling with a strange cat so...

Luckily one of our fellow park residents saw the cat going down the trail towards several nice homes near the park, and asked a Mexican fellow who lives there if he knew who's cat it was.  Turns out he has a cat that matches the description.  BC or black cat as some have called him is really an opportunist preferring park handouts and Whiskas.  Once we knew this we decided it was time for BC to return home and we stopped feeding him.  Today, I saw him duck under the RV with something large in his mouth.  BC had caught a large iguana for lunch.  I guess he can fend for himself after all.

Mexico has no harsh winter.  As long as a cat has a safe place to go to when necessary and it's health, it can fend for itself quite well.

We also went out for a lovely dinner on the hill.

Mardi Gras y Adios

Well, it's been a busy time in La PeƱita.  Five days of partying with music on the malecon every night culminating in the parade Tuesday night complete with dancing horses, numerous children, etc.  Some of us went to the charity bingo in town, some went to the parade and others went to taco night with free margaritas.

Last night the park had its Mardi Gras pork roast with a 60's theme.  The meal was great and we had a good time.  The band might have been a little sketchy playing those Americano 60's songs but it was fine.

Today we drove our family visitors (above) to San Pancho where they will spend a few nights before departing for PV and home.

Whale of a Tail

It's been a good year for humpback whale watching.  There was a female humpback with a calf in the bay for a few days.  Then an afternoon of two whales cruising around the bay slapping their flukes at each other and occasionally breaching, you could hear the slaps.  They kept that up for several hours.  Yesterday a whale was hanging out fairly close then decided to start slapping its tale again and again for about 15 minutes.  As you can see from the photo below it was very close to us and you could hear the sharp slaps of the tale.

Catching up

Well I have been remiss in my blogging duties so I will attempt to catch up.

Thursday we spent the day swimming at our own beach as the water was very calm.  We went out to dinner for the 8 person seafood meal at La Pineda.

Shrimp, octopus, sarandedeau, etc.

The food was fantastic as usual.  On Friday we decided to head for Chacala Beach for another swim and lunch.

We left for Puerto Vallarta on Sunday to attend a friends wedding at the Villa del Palmar Hotel.

The ladies took the bride out for a night on the malecon.  We took a collectivo (bus) down along the waterfront and had dinner and drinks then strolled back towards the hotel.  It was a long weekend and the malecon was very crowded.

The wedding took place on a small peninsula out from the hotel.  It was a beautiful evening.  The silver highlights of the sunset matching the silver in the wedding dress.

After the ceremony we boarded some taxis and went to a family friend's restaurant where we had a fabulous meal.  It was a wonderful time and we met many new interesting people.  A great little vacation from our vacation.  Today, we drove back to the trailer park, happy to leave the big city with its high prices behind.
