April 6 - Fremont Street

We spent the morning shopping for a few RV accessories we wanted now that we could get them.  After an early dinner we went to Fremont Street by Sam's Town bus shuttle.

Golden Nugget, lost $20 here.

We returned to the RV park by shuttle.  Seeing it once was enough, not my favourite view on humanity.

I went for a drive, trying to find a hobby store with some stock.  I visited two, which only had some foam ARFs, a bunch of drones, and masses of R/C cars.  It seems the internet has become the only way to find a wide selection of items.  It was interesting to go into a shop tucked into the back of an industrial park consisting of a large room, with some minor stock on the walls, and six guys with headsets, at large desks, in front of screens, doing business.  It was like walking on the Borg; it took quite a while before anyone noticed my presence...

April 5th - Las Vegas

162 Km.

We drove through a slightly greener and more open desert on our way to Las Vegas.

There were a lot of flowers.

First snow capped mountain in the far distance.

Coming into Las Vegas

We are staying at Sam's Town KOA.  Surprisingly easy drive into it.

April 3 - Avi Casino

It was a beautiful morning.  We moved to a more internet friendly spot in the campground and are now settled in for a few days.

The water in the river was a bit cool for swimming and we had a major wind storm (65 mph) in the afternoon.  We were glad we moved to a more central position in the campground so we were somewhat sheltered from the dust storm.  First dust storm we have ever been in and we were glad we weren't driving.  We had all just returned to our RVs so we weren't caught out in it.  No rain other than a few drops.

April 2nd - Laughlin, NV

435 Km.

We are following a long line of desert climate types as we head north from Sonora to Canada.  Driving through Arizona and California and stopping in Nevada today.

April 1 - Ajo, AZ

It was nice to have a down time day.  I walked the nature trail this morning.  I didn't take Kirk as it is full of cholla cactus, needle grass, etc if you happen to stray from the trail and it has cottontail rabbits.

Early morning, RV park in the distance from nature trail.

Cholla blooming

Met this little fellow along the trail.

We went to the Farmers Market and then grocery shopping.  Wow, forgot how expensive it is here but lots of choices and back in the land of products we missed from home.

High-grade native copper made Ajo the first copper mine in Arizona. The mine closed in the 1980's but huge tailings piles of multicoloured stone remain as well as huge hole.
