We got a very early start as we had a long haul to the border at Los Indios and some territory with which we were unfamiliar. We were leaving the direct route to Matamoros/Brownsville and heading to Villa Hermosa and north to the border crossing at Los Indios, Texas. It is a smaller border crossing and easier. Also the Banjercito office at the border crossing closed at 6 p.m. and we would lose an hour in time change.
The roads were a little rougher in places. A truck carrying dangerous goods ahead of us passed a double semi which was passing a parked double semi on the shoulder while we were going around a blind hairpin corner in the mountains. I regret that I did not get a photo as I watched in shock. There was someone coming but he made it with at least a few seconds to spare. He later passed a small truck on a similar corner in the photo below.

There were also herds of goats and some cows and horses tied along the road to graze.
The guy on the motorbike ahead is controlling this herd on along a 110 km/hr hwy.
We crossed the border around 3:00 p.m. It was a great place as there were no lineups and the Mexican authorities came out and removed our stickers right away. The U.S. border guards had more time for us and checked our trailers. They were all very polite and helpful providing us with lists of things we can and can't bring from Mexico and a website. It was a few minutes drive to Los Fresnos and Palmdale RV Park. It was a long day but it went smoothly. A happy hour was required once we were set up.
