Tula, Tamaulipas - updated

We drove into higher and drier areas.  Much more cacti and Joshua trees.  Yet spectacular in it's own way.  Highways continued to be good.

Luckily it wasn't windy.

Cacti forests

Small greener valleys

A bit of grass along the highway is grazed.

We arrived at a big Pemex gas station in the afternoon and circled our wagons.  We had a huge light over us and the whole station was well lit.  A Mexican family pulled along side of us in the evening and slept in the back of their truck for the night.  There were a few other "ladies" catering to the trucks but it was a safe spot for the night.

Just before dark the wind whipped up and a dust storm descended just as I was about to finish cleaning the windshield.  It blew over my water tub and never let up.  The RV's were rocking and we were glad we were not on the road.  It is a harsh bit of country to eke out a living in.
