El Paseo de los Arboles

I discovered the Santa Cruz River Park trail running right behind our campsite.  The office gave me a key to a small gate and there it is.  Kirk and I did a few km this morning.  It connects in a huge loop with the Rillito, and Pantano river parks.  More than 125 miles of paved pathway.  We saw a rabbit and a variety of birds including a Vermilion Flycatcher, Phainopepla, Say's Phoebe (new for me), Gila Woodpeckers, and several species of little grey birds unknown.

River had been wider a few days ago from rain.

Palo Verde tree

Golden Crownbeard (Cowpen Daisy)

Bird-of-Paradise Shrub

Yellow Trumpetbush

Under the highway, you can just see the trail on the other side of the river too.

Barrel cactus

Desert Lavender shrub

Phainopepla

We went to Camping World and while Cam was waiting for me in the car a Roadrunner was running around the parking lot.  We bought a new recliner so we sat out on our patio in the afternoon.
