February 2 - Altavista and old road to Puerto Vallarta

This morning we had a surprise visit from Bev and Stan!  Friends of theirs were delivering something to the RV park so they came along.  It was a short visit but great to see them.  We will see them again soon.  We headed to El Monteon to look for a sandal lady but alas she was gone to Puerto Vallarta.  So we decided to go to the village of Altavista.

Beer store at crossroads leading to Altavista

After we toured the town we went back to the crossroads just before town and went to the right up towards the hot springs on the old road to Puerto Vallarta.  This too is a gravel, mud and cobblestone narrow road winding through the jungle.  You can follow it all the way to Puerto Vallarta but we were only out for an afternoon ride.

This fellow was also out for a ride

There were a few small houses and some ranches cut into the jungle along the way

Beautiful jungle all along the way as we followed a stream

our car pulled over to see some birds

horse didn't look impressed with the road

ok it seems everybody was out for a ride
