Casa Grande, AZ

We said our goodbyes to friends last night.  And headed for Gila Bend this morning to get our tow car tire checked.  It had a slow leak since San Carlos.

When the repair guy took the tire off the CRV he said "No good, no fix".  There was a screw in the inside sidewall.  Since the CRV is AWD  he put two new back tires on the car, which miraculously, they had in stock.  We were just glad the tire lasted until we were in a big tire shop.

While the tire was being fixed we checked out nearby campgrounds online.  We decided to go to West Pinal (Kortsen) County Park first.  It was a small park all by itself in the desert with dayuse/overnight camping spots with no facilities.  We had lunch there.

 At West Pinal (Korsten) Park

This is a small park with about 20 sites spread out over a large area of pretty much open desert.  There were a variety of blooming plants, saguaro cacti, Palo Verde trees, etc.  Kirk and I went for a short hike while watching out for snakes.

We left the park and drove to Casa Grande.

Desert Globe Mallow grew in carpets along the road

We arrived at Las Colinas RV Resort near Casa Grande in early afternoon.   This turned out to be a great little resort with a nice pool, large full service sites and it is centrally located between several state parks in this area so we decided to stay for awhile.  Kirk and I went for a brief desert walk as it was the heat of the day.
