March 8 - Stormy weather

We took down our canopy over the patio last night because we heard there was a storm coming in today.  And it did.  Starting with large waves and thunder then sheets of rain off and on all day.

It was nice to hear thunder and rain again.  However, the wind picked up and a coconut fell on our neighbour's boat.

Right now it is 11:00 p.m. and the wind is about 24 kph with gusts to 43.  This is the peak of the winds for the next hour.   Kirk and I went for our walk and people were busy on the levels below our site where the wind was howling through whipping tarps loose. We are higher and not directly in the predominant path of the wind with our neighbour's trailer sheltering us a bit too.   It will be interesting to see what the results are in the morning.  Kirk and I avoided palm trees as not only do they drop coconuts but they also drop huge palm fronds.

We stayed up to keep an eye on our awning while different people came by checking things out down the street.  One of our friends brought tequila shots and we had a little toast.  Eventually we decided to take our awning down with some help.
