It is a a perfect evening. The air is perfectly still, humid, cool and warm. Perfect for human skin. The ocean remains in constant motion. Chililó the cat brushes against our legs. I struggle with the emotions of leaving him. And he, he is nature, nature because he is supremely indifferent to the petty hysterias of the human race.
The sky is darkening and the night herons fly croaking across the horizon with bats flitting above. Insects sing their nightly chorus. Tonight was Taco Tuesday with free Margaritas. How can you tell!
The talk is of who is leaving when and where to. The migration has begun. People leaving in groups, three or four, or solitary travellers. I transplanted potted plants to the flower bed today in preparation for taking the pots to the bodega. Rolled up the rope lights and stored them in the RV. We too are ready to go.
We wonder if La Peñita plays a role in our future or if this is near the last time we will sit here. One never anticipates where life will lead. But we prepay a month into the next season.
This is a place of perfect temperatures, perfect breezes, perfect humidity and a stunning view. I treasure this moment with this place and Chililó. I hug it to me and let it go only with the greatest reluctance.

You two have been very fortunate and wise to have the ability to, and made the decision to, have a terrace as beautiful as the one you sit on and watch the ever changing view of the ocean. And be warm, and not shovel snow,........and free margaritas of course!!
Good luck, indeed! And happy to have been able to share it with friends.
