Isla De La Piedra

We spent yesterday taking it easy and waiting for the phone call from the border.  At 5:00 we learned that the part was on the truck on its way to Mazatlan to arrive Friday.

Waiting for news with a beverage

We went out for dinner in the evening to a local restaurant and watched the cats hang out.  Mazatlan has a lot of cats and they are in better shape than in La Peñita.

Today we headed for Isla De La Piedra (Stone Island).  The highway was good until we got right into town.

Mango Orchard

Big rocks sticking out in fields

 Stone Island in the distance

Egrets

The road turned into dirt when we got to town

In town, we went to see the two Rv parks.

One of 2 RV parks on the beach

The island across the water is where we drove a few days ago

The majority of tourists are brought in by ferry which is a short ride from old town Mazatlan.  Very few actually come by bus or drive in like we did today.

RVs parked along palms on right

Leaving the park we met horses

Using his wagon to drive a herd of For Hire riding horses

These guys pick up tourists from the ferry and give them a tour by wagon.

Lots of boats in this town

Another view across to where we were a few days ago

All of the shipping action happens on the city side

Just tourists and fishing here

Driving out of town on main road

Mangos

It was a lovely drive and I will load more photos tomorrow.
