Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe

Today in Mexico celebrations, or fiestas, are held in honor of Mary, the Virgin of Guadalupe.   She is the patron Saint of Mexico.  It is not a federal public holiday but a religious one, so many businesses are open.  The market was on in La Peñita and we only saw one small group of girls marching down the street with a police escort.  The bangers have been increasingly loud and frequent both day and night for the past week or so.  Especially last night.  This goes on for many days as part of the religious festival.

Streets are looking pretty nice downtown.

The fishermen have been throwing out the round circle nets since the fish have been rising in the bay.

Pelicans seem to know when the end of net is near with fish.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird

I helped with the Christmas decoration prep.  We were painting palm fruiting body tendrils to make them look like icicles.

Hanging to dry.

You can see the resemblance, right??

Somebody said they saw a pod of 6 whales this week so hopefully we can get some photos.  Otherwise not much happening around here.
