March 11th

Our time at Borrego Palms Canyon Campground is at an end; reservation sites are the bane of us spontaneous types (some less charitable would say less organized).  All sites have been reserved, no room for the come by chance.  So we picked up and moved 1/2 mile down the road to Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort.  Somewhat pricey, but includes wi-fi, pool, hot tub, and coin laundromat, cable TV, if so equipped.  Power, so no generator/battery worries.  We have a nice, if somewhat tight spot, backed up against the shade of the Tamarisk Pines.  There’s also humming birds a plenty.  Nancy wasted no time in putting out her feeders.  I spotted a humming bird sitting on her nest just thirty feet from our trailer.  Now we could be boon-docking for free, just four miles out of town, but Nancy is not sure it is safe; or something.  So today was move, shop for groceries, and catch up on laundry day.

Driving back from the flower fields last evening, we drove by the airport.  There was a white Shorts SC.7 Skyvan up against the fence, used by the local parachute company.  Quite a unique plane, haven't seen one in the flesh in decades.  Found a school soccer field that I could likely fly from, the only patch of grass in town, other than the golf courses; unfortunately, it was across the road from the airport.  Can't fly there.

The heat of the afternoon was spent swimming and hanging about poolside.  The cool of the evening was spent sitting out in the dark, watching the stars, and listening to the wind in the pines.
