We headed west this morning, on S22, up, up, up to Culp Valley. The Accord ignored the 4wheel drive only sign, and we headed up to the Pena Springs/Culp Valley trailhead. Nancy & Kirkley went for a walk towards Pena Springs. We were several thousand feet above the valley floor at Borrego Springs. Between the Cholla and the rocks, there was actually grass, and the Bighorn Sheep had it grazed down to pasture length. Signs warned of mountain lions in the area (after the sheep), and we ignored that too.
Nancy found a Mojave Yucca in riotous bloom. The trip back down into Borrego Springs afforded quite a view.
Back in town, we washed the Accord, still mudded up from our wet departure from Parker. Then, because it was still dirty, we went back and washed it again; this time scrubbing it down with a brush.
Afternoon saw another swim and doze at the pool. Sleeping with the windows open at night, warm, clear and starry.
