Junction North Llano River RV Park

So, after spending a peaceful night at the highway rest stop just 45 Km. from Juarez/El Paso, we were on the road before 7am.  I hate when a time zone ruins an early start; just an hour and a half later, 8:30 became 9:30, and we were average all over again.

West Texas is a pretty barren place, ranging from a 2 foot creosote bush per 10,000 square feet of sand, to creosote, mesquite, bear grass, prickly pear cactus, and enough foot long grass to provide continuous ground cover.  The highlight of Nancy’s day of Navigator Chair observation, was spotting a pair of Javelinas munching Prickly Pear Cactus along the highway.

Nancy’s online searching had turned up a good state park along the way, South Llano River State Park, which was usually full, and a good RV Park in the same town, which we might get into.  She also discovered spring break in Texas was this week, and that finding a spot would be tricky business before Monday.  The good news was there was a cold front pushing south, and it was going to rain like a bastard.  The cross-country jaunt from California, along with “sleeping" in truck stops and rest areas, had left us weary, and we agreed to heave to for a couple of days.

Tonight, we spend in Junction North Llano River RV Park, a former KOA by the look of her, but one of the cleanest, best run RV parks we’ve seen in our adventures.  It’s also on the river.  Unfortunately, the promised wifi is more or less non-existent, but somehow manages to impair the cellular as well (I know, it shouldn't be able to..). Tomorrow we move down the road to the state park until Monday morning; showers, heavy showers, and thundershowers be damned.  (Nancy - frogs were singing in the evening in the river by our campsite had to leave my window open)

637 Km. today.
