After a night of tacos and free margaritas (didn't have to send any of those back because of low tequila content), we (us and Ken and Lorrie) hauled ourselves out at 7:00 a.m. and were on the road to PV (PV, is a lot like PA, except for the tropical temperatures, great beaches, warm Pacific Ocean, and surrounding lush tropical mountains. Oh yeah, and cruise ships. And palm trees.) by 8:00. We meant to be gone by 7:30 but forgot to factor in the neighbours all wanting to give advice on where to shop, turn, sightsee, etc. Kirk stayed with Terri and Louise and their 2 dogs.
Wait Señora you forgot to feed your iguana!
The forest along the way was lush and overhung the road wherever it could. We did the speed limit everyone else didn't.
We hit the shopping highlights - the Superwalmart (half of the products were unfamiliar) and Costco. Lorrie broke her glasses in Walmart so 2 new pair in Costco $400 Cdn. Turns out Costco is also the best place to buy booze and mixers.
There was quite the industry going in the Walmart lot - mechanics fixing cars, window washers, guys selling guitars, etc.
Cruise ship across from Walmart
Then they (ship) pulled in
We also meandered down some nonamericano side streets looking for an Apple store which turned out to be nonexistent. We stopped for lunch at 2:00 in Bucerias at a Thai restaurant, took the scenic oceanside road back
(interestingly, today's Globe and Mail features Punta De Mita as the up and coming place to be....was there yesterday 8-)
and made it to La Penita just before dark, yikes, a long day. Horses, chickens, topes, highway maintenance crews cleaning up small rock and mud slides with a shovel and broom - all on the road - ai-eee!
