November 1st - La Penita RV Park

There is a new cuota bypass around Mazatlan, which, according to the experienced, saves over an hour of busy city traffic.  Because the proliferation of Pemexs' (nationally owned gas stations) has not caught up with the new bypass, we had to leave the toll road and go into a small town on the south end of Mazatlan for fuel.

The road south was fine, and we made good time.  The rivers were running high and silt laden; you can tell there has been a lot of rain lately.

Laguna Agua Brava area

We continue on the cuota until Tepic, where things got very mountainous.  We hung a right through Xalisco, where parking on both sides of a single lane street made for a slow navigation.  (Not to mention a slight wait while the local fire department put out a burning SUV).  Then came "The Hill", as the experienced called it.  Two way traffic, no shoulder, huge overhanging trees, the canopies meshed overhead, many, many buses coming the other way (a holiday Sunday afternoon), and the kind of tight curves,  steep ascends, and descends, in beautiful forested mountains that reminded me of "Romancing the Stone".  I had a flow experience, while Nancy, not so much. (so no photos).
We landed at La Penita De Jaltemba, based the rigs, dropped the towds, and made the sharp right turn into the park.

Newly freed towds, awaiting the gassing of the rigs, to complete the journey into the park.

Nancy spent an hour checking out three possible site choices, but in the end, we decided to sleep on it, and decide in the morning.  Carole and Grant treated us to supper at the restaurant, much appreciated.
371 Km. today

4,886 Km. since we left home.

Total states travelled, not just this trip.
