Mechanicos, Mechanicos

Well, we started off the day with a visit to Salvadore the mechanico who Teo the Roca Azul concierge had recommended.   The shop was only minutes from our campsite and quite impressive for a little town.  He had worked for Ram in the U.S. for many years.  He said don't ever take a truck like this to just any mechanic here.

Driving in, we went up the ramp to the bays on top

Salvadore had the correct diagnostic tools and was able to tell us that there was indeed an issue with our friend's truck either a sensor or worse with its turbocharger.  He tested the batteries as well but that was not causing the check engine issue.  He does not fix diesels so he said we need to go to Guadalajara.  He didn't want any money but our friend did give him some for his time.  We returned in time to see Teo bringing the tire our other fellow caravaner needed.  Then another truck arrived with a guy who put the new tire on the rim.

We contacted another Mexican friend from La Peñita and he gave us the name of a friend who has a good diesel shop in Guadalajara.  Tomorrow Cam and I will go to Guadalajara with our friend following and attempt to resolve her truck issue hopefully at very little expense to her.
I must say our experience with Latino garages - 2 in the U.S. and now here in Mexico has been great.  Willing to take the time even when they are obviously busy, honest, inexpensive and often coming to us at our campsite.
