Villa De Hidalgo, SLP

We gassed up first thing this morning in Cuidad Victoria.  The low overnight was 19, on it's way to a high of 32, and it was a humid, foggy morning.

I had a friendly chat with a Transito who pulled over the whole caravan before we got out of town.  I expected a shakedown, but he shook hands, checked my documents, we had a brief chat, and we were on our way again.  I think he was just curious; I don't think they get that many Canadiense caravans in the area.

The Sierra Madre Oriental mountains were looming in the haze, and we soon were chugging our way up to the interior plateau, going from about 1000 feet above sea level in Cuidad Victoria to 5000 feet at Villa Hidalgo.

The highways were good, and the scenery excellent.

It was the second day of the dead today, the day for adults.  The cemetery at Tula was so busy that there were police directing traffic in off the highway.

Quite a barren landscape in places
